Volunteers needed

2022-02-08

Dear Parents and Guardians of West Hill,

The West Hill Minor Hockey Association has a long and proud history in the east end of the city.  For over 65 years our organization has provided amazing experiences to our children and helped served the needs of the community, and most importantly, its’ children, by providing a cost-effective way for tens of thousands of youngsters to play the wonderful game of hockey.

But in recent times it’s become harder to get volunteers to keep the organization functioning.  The executive, for instance, consists of seven members.  This current season we have 5 directors sitting on the executive and of those 5, two are not expected to return in the Fall of 2022.  The remaining directors average age is over 60. Our association desperately needs committed volunteers to continue the tradition of serving and supporting our hockey community in Scarborough.

Volunteerism keeps fees down and gives more families access to our great game.  Thank you to those who have reached out from our December message.  We truly appreciate your commitment and we will be in touch before preparations for next year begin.  But we are desperately in need of many more volunteers to keep the organization active.  Without support, the 3 remaining directors will have a near impossible task of running the league, especially as the impact of Covid continues to stretch all available resources.

Please reach out to our current house league director, Kevin Mercer, to volunteer to support West Hill. The future of West Hill Minor Hockey depends on it.

Kevin can be reached at mercerkevin@hotmail.com.

Sincerely,

West Hill Directors
