Respect in Sport Program!!
The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF), in conjunction with the GTHL, announced all Minor Hockey Leagues in Ontario
must use the
Respect in Sport program, effective for the 2016-2017 season. This roll out is a testament to the dedication the OHF and its Minor Member Partners have in making this great game of hockey, fun and enjoyable for all.
Respect in Sport is an accessible, online resource in the prevention of bullying, abuse, harassment, and discrimination (BAHD). The program’s mission is to empower participants to recognize signs of BAHD and eliminate it from the game, through a global culture of respect. It will take approximately 60-90 minutes to complete.
- At least one parent or guardian of each player registered to play hockey in Ontario must complete the online Respect in Sport Parent Program.
- You only need to take the program once regardless of the number of players you have in the family.
- If you are registering a child for the first time and have taken the program for another child, remember to add the child to your Respect in Sport account by way of the Child Management tab after you register them for the first time.
- The GTHL together with West Hill Hockey Association will be tracking the completion of courses in order to ensure the participation is completed for this season’s registrations.
